Measured foot length into the European kids' scale
The EU number does not track foot length evenly: some 5 mm gains add a half size and others a whole one (EU 28 to EU 28.5), which is why cm-to-EU charts from different shops disagree by a size. The table above reads the step straight from foot length, so 19.5 cm lands on EU 32.
A foot measured in millimetres reads more honestly than any children's label. The European number does not add the toe room a child needs, so a chart gives the size and a fitting guide gives the room, roughly 9 to 15 millimetres in front of the toes under the German WMS standard. Growth outruns the shoe: a pair fitted with the fullest safe allowance lasts only a handful of months, which is why measuring beats guessing from age or from last season's size.

Does an EU kids' size include growing room?
No. The number describes length, not the extra room to grow into, so add fitting space on top when you check the shoe.
How long will a well-fitted children's shoe last?
Only a few months. At full safe toe room a young child's foot still catches up within roughly a season.
